Dynamic workflow - Fabrication of Hybrid Prototypes Using The Patient Provisionals as a Reference to Achieve Optimal Functional and Esthetic Results.
Abstract
This poster outlines a clinical protocol for fabricating prototypes of implant-supported complete fixed dental prostheses. The development of this kind of restoration, commonly referred to as full-arch implant hybrid prostheses, has advanced significantly with the introduction of monolithic zirconia. While zirconia offers enhanced strength and esthetics, it is less forgiving compared to traditional metal-acrylic or metal-ceramic materials. This rigidity necessitates precise clinical records and meticulous laboratory communication to ensure successful outcomes.
Excessive adjustments to zirconia or ceramic restorations can compromise the integrity of the prosthesis, underscoring the importance of accurate planning during clinical impressions and record-taking. To address these challenges, a dynamic workflow that incorporates patient provisionals is proposed. By scanning provisionals and using them as a wax-up in the Exocad program, clinicians can achieve precision in designing new restorations, refining both functional and esthetic aspects of hybrid prototypes before finalizing the definitive prosthesis.
Conclusion
Incorporating a prototype prosthesis helps minimize potential errors, including inaccuracies in maxillomandibular relation records, esthetics, and occlusion. This approach leads to a more predictable and successful final restoration outcome
