This investigation evaluates cryoneurolysis's effect on opioid consumption and hospital stay duration post-total knee arthroplasty (TKA), addressing a gap in research regarding its efficacy in reducing postoperative opioid use. Through systematic review of PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane for trials comparing standard care with and without pre-operative cryoneurolysis, analysis using RevMan 5.4 showed no significant difference in opioid use at 6 weeks post-TKA. However, a reduction in hospital stay was noted in the cryoneurolysis group, though its clinical significance remains uncertain. The study's limitations include few studies and high heterogeneity, highlighting the need for further research.
