A novel ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia (UGRA) course utilising an augmented reality system and artificial intelligence assistance
Marmar Htyn, James Lloyd, Owen Lewis, Poonam Bopanna, Elizabeth Duff
Introduction
- The RCoA (Royal College of Anaesthetists) 2021 curriculum places greater emphasis on UGRA than previously, reflecting the recognition that UGRA is an important skill for all anaesthetists.
- Trainees must demonstrate competence in UGRA, rather than case numbers.
- Whilst these changes are positive, they generate challenges for both trainers and trainees.
- We wanted to provide high quality, consistent, accessible, and inclusive UGRA training to all anaesthetic trainees in Wales, helping them achieve the Stage 1 RA curriculum requirements and shortening the learning curve to competence.
