A Randomized Controlled Trial Comparing IV to Oral Acetaminophen for Postoperative Recovery After Ambulatory Spine Surgery
Lumbar spine surgery is associated with moderate to high levels of pain and early postoperative pain is associated with prolonged length of stay.1 Multimodal analgesia including acetaminophen has been recommended and endorsed by a consensus panel.2 Acetaminophen is most commonly given perioperatively in either oral or intravenous (IV) form but prospective studies in spine surgery are lacking.
