This retrospective study compares perioperative and postoperative outcomes between laparoscopic (n=20) and robotic (n=21) Hartmann’s reversal performed between 2020 and 2025 by four colorectal surgeons. Patient demographics, operative variables, conversion rates, and postoperative complications were analyzed.

Robotic Hartmann’s reversal was associated with significantly lower conversion rates, while operative time, estimated blood loss, length of stay, and postoperative complications were comparable between groups. Both approaches demonstrated low morbidity and acceptable 30-day outcomes.

This study contributes contemporary comparative data on minimally invasive Hartmann’s reversal and highlights the potential technical advantages of robotic surgery in complex reoperative colorectal cases.
