Bridging Gaps in Maternal Care: Evaluating LaQshya Implementation at IGGMCH
Authors: Dr. Alka Patankar, Dr. Gaurang Narayan, Dr. Monika Akare
This poster presents an evaluation of the LaQshya Programme, a national initiative launched in 2017 aimed at improving the quality of intrapartum care in labor rooms and maternity operation theatres (OTs). Conducted at Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH), Nagpur, the study used standardized checklists and interviews with 50 healthcare providers.
Key findings showed:
-
Compliance scores were suboptimal (48% in labor rooms and 56% in OTs).
-
Service provision had high scores (91–100%), but quality management and infection control were poor.
-
Disaster preparedness was notably absent (0% compliance).
Post-gap analysis led to improvements in infrastructure, procurement of digital equipment, and implementation of SOPs. The study concludes that while LaQshya has helped enhance care quality, persistent issues like staff shortages and inconsistent adherence to protocols still require attention.
