Introduction

Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory conditioncharacterised by endometrial stroma and glands found outside the uterine cavity , affecting approximately 10% of all reproductive aged women globally .
As highlighted by the European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) guidelines, endometriosis, particularly if it is deep infiltrating, is complex and requires management in a tertiary centre such as the University Hospital of Wales (UHW) with access to appropriate expertise in a multidisciplinary team (MDT) approach

Design

NICE and the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE) recommend that specialist endometriosis centres should have access to a wide range of healthcare professionals such as pelvic pain management specialists and urologists with an interest in endometriosis.

This audit aims to assess the access to the other multi-disciplinary specialities at UHW, and ascertain patients’ perspectives towards their management.

Conclusion

1.Better recording of meeting attendances needed e.g. via an MDT coordinator.
2.Reinforcement needed of BSGE and NICE guidelines regarding who must attend the MDT meetings.
Waiting lists for surgery are ever-growing, patients are reporting daily pain having not tried all the available options to manage their pain.
A joint multidisciplinary clinic involving physiotherapy, a psychologist, and pain specialist would greatly improve the patients’ experiences.
Results suggest a nominated email for contact would be useful for patients to improve continuity of care and illicit any concerns.
