Understanding fall risks through analysis of reporting data

Introduction

Falls are most common patient safety problem in hospital. Almost 47% of patient safety incidents were falls reported in the Korea patient safety reporting & learning system(KOPS) in 2021.

When falls occur, patients experience various physical and psychological damages.

To properly prevent falls, it is important to understand risk of falls and implement appropriate intervention accordingly.

There are patients with diverse characteristics and disease in this hospital and the external environment changes rapidly, so there is a need to diversify fall prevention activities.
