<INTRODUCTION>

◆ HIRA has been entrusted with the responsibility of national drug management in South Korea for over 20 years through the operation of DUR(Drug Utilization Review) and Korea Pharmaceutical Information Service(KPIS)

◆ Building on this wealth of experience, HIRA has developed K-Style Drug Integrated Management Platform model that effectively supervises the entire process from drug distribution to drug safety use.

◆ This model is expected to serve as a reference for countries that require a comprehensive national-level drug management system, helping to reduce trial and effort and establish low-cost, high-efficiency systems.

 

<AIM>

◆ The study aims to develop a global integrated model for drug safety usage and pharmaceutical distribution management, using international standards and advanced technologies for universal application.

 

<METHOD>

2. Case Study
◆ HIRA successfully established Bahrain’s national health insurance system in 2019, which involved the integration of DUR and PIS into the Bahrain National Drug Management System, and this experience was thoroughly examined.

3. Analysis
◆ A through analysis of cost-effective and state-of-the-art technologies, including cloud computing and APIs, was conducted to facilitate the smooth development and operation of systems in any country.

 

<RESULTS>

◆(Drug distribution information management) It tracks and reports drug production, import, supply, and usage, ensuring proper inventory management and  statistical data.

◆(Drug use safety check) It enables a drug use safety check service by linking systems through API or a web portal, facilitating broader participation from medical institutions.

◆(Prevention of infectious disease ) Linking immigration information aids in identifying and controlling infectious diseases symptoms through individuals’ medical history.

2. Structure of K-Style Drug Integrated Management Platform

◆ (Portal System) A website open to the public network to provide drug-related services to users

◆ (Internal Business System) Websites on the internal network to support the management of master information

◆ (Interface System) API for safe drug use service and automatic system transmission of drug distribution information when prescribing and dispensing drugs

◆ (Mobile System) A system that allows the public to access useful information including personal medical records, hospital details, and pharmacy information on Android and IOS platforms

◆ (Analysis System) A website on the internal network that analyzes the collected information

 

<CONCLUSIONS>

◆ The platform model enables countries to experience advanced and integrated drug management systems, aiding decision-making in building their national drug management system with minimal trial and error. It promotes safer and more affordable access to medications, contributing to the goal of achieving universal healthcare.
