Anti-Inflammatory and Hepatoprotective Activities of Olax subscorpioidea Essential Oil

This poster presents the anti-inflammatory and hepatoprotective properties of Olax subscorpioidea essential oil, a medicinal plant widely used in West Africa. Using hydro-distillation and GC-MS, we identified key phytoconstituents, including squalene, linoleic acid, and eugenol acetate. The in vivo assays demonstrated protective effects on liver enzymes (ALT, AST, ALP) and modulation of cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6, IL-10, IL-1α). These results provide scientific support for the traditional use of O. subscorpioidea in managing inflammatory conditions and highlight its potential therapeutic value.
