Background:
- Wound recovery is often hindered by infection and oxidative stress.
- Traditional dressings lack multifunctional protection.
Method Summary:
- Prepared chrysin (Chr) solutions (1, 3, 5 wt%) and Na-CMC solution (30 mg/mL).
- Gallium nitrate solution (20 mg/mL) mixed and stirred at 50 °C for 25 min.
- Washed polymer, frozen at –80 °C (24 h), then freeze-dried at –110 °C (24 h).
Key Findings:
- Characterization: Enhanced porosity and swelling capacity.
- Controlled Release: Sustained chrysin release over 60 hours.
- Antioxidant Activity: Significant DPPH radical scavenging.
- Antibacterial: Effective against Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
- Cell Viability: Safe for human keratinocyte (HaCaT) cells.
Conclusion:
Gallium-Carboxymethyl Cellulose-Chrysin (Ga-CMC-Chr) scaffolds are biocompatible, antioxidant, and antibacterial, making them promising for advanced wound healing applications that promote faster tissue repair and reduce infection risk.
