OBJECTIVE: To describe our findings of our CARF-accredited outpatient functional restoration pain program (OFRPP) for veterans suffering from complex chronic pain in the past 10 years.
METHODS:
This CARF-accredited program is for 8 weeks and the veterans come 4 hours twice a week. Our study was approved by our own IRB.
Veterans answer Pain Outcomes Questionnaire (POQ), UW-Concerns About Pain (UW-CAP)and Pain Related Self Efficacy (PRSE), Insomnia Severity Index (ISI), Pain catastrophizing Scale (PCS), Tampa scale for Kinesiophobia (TSK) before they enter and after they leave the program.
In the past 10 years, we had 253 veterans who participated in our outpatient program. Veterans have reported significant improvements after completion of our program. Course satisfaction is rated highly and healthcare visits related to pain have significantly decreased up to 12 months post completion.
