INTRO
•Saphenous nerve injury is a known but uncommon complication of total knee arthroplasty
•Peripheral nerve stimulator (PNS) successfully utilized in post total knee arthroplasty (TKA) nerve injury
CASE
•60 year old female with 17 months of right saphenous neuropathy
•EMG demonstrated left saphenous neuropathy with absent sensory nerve conduction
•Diagnostic saphenous nerve block provided temporary relief
•Initial PNS placement failed due to lack of coverage, second PNS placement successful
•75% pain relief for the past 7 months
DISCUSSION
•Unique application of peripheral nerve stimulation in management of post TKA saphenous neuropathy
•Second PNS attempt successful shows importance of precise lead placement and paresthesia mapping
