Those who are symptomatic appear to be at increased risk for developing severe sequelae of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) compared with nonpregnant reproductive-aged females. In the COVID-19 pandemic, the precise extent of the risks in pregnancy was uncertain, which effected pregnant individuals. The objective of this study was to assess the effect of a major public health crisis (COVID-19 pandemic) on maternal mortality among pregnant and postpartum women. Material and Methods: This Retrospective study conducted in Obstetric and Gynaecology Department, Government General Hospital, Andha Pradesh, Guntur from April 2020 to September 2021. Infected woman was identified immediately after admission, at any stage of pregnancy or delivery, and Women and neonates were followed up until hospital discharge. Results: It was observed that 52 maternal deaths occurred in 2020 to 2021 and among these 29 (55.7%) below 25 years, 33 (63.4%) non preventable, 33 (63.4%) from rural back ground. It was also noticed that 23 (44.2%) were primi, 38 (73%) Postnatal deaths and 24 (46.1%) with LSCS. Where as in April 2021 to September 2021 total Maternal deaths were 36 among them 22 (61.1%) were primi, , 18 (50%) Antenatal deaths. Leading causes of deaths in 2020 to 2021 were PPH-6 (11.5%), Eclampsia-5 (9.61%) and Covid-5 (9.61%) And in next following 6 months COVID with associated Comorbidities -23(63.9%) was the major cause followed by PPH (5.5%), Pre-eclampsia and Eclampsia. Conclusions: COVID-19with Comorbidities in pregnancy was associated with consistent and substantial increases in severe maternal mortality. Knowing these risks, it is essential to inform decision-makers and guide clinical recommendations for the management of COVID-19 with associated Comorbid Conditions in pregnant women.
