Improving O&G trainees’ experience in gynaecology outpatient clinics
The intervention:
1: Trainee allocation to clinics
•All clinics rated by trainees based on the perceived level of training received.
•Trainees allocated to clinics offering “good” training opportunities in preference to those offering “ok” training.
•Trainees no longer allocated to clinics offering poor training opportunities.
2: Number of patients seen in clinic
•Trainee clinics: patient numbers were reduced from 10 patients to 7 patients (allowing 30 minutes per consultation).
•Consultant clinics: appointment slots were changed from 10 minutes for a FU and 20 minutes for a new patient, to 15 minutes for a telephone and 20 minutes for a face to face consultation.
