Occurrence of Microplastics (MPs) in Soil of Surat (Diamond City, Gujarat, India): Characterization, Statistical Analysis, Ecological Risk Assessment and Greenness Evaluation

Highlights:
First report on MPs abundance and ecological risk assessment of Surat city Soil.
White-transparent MPs fragments (2-5 mm) and PE, PP, PET polymers are mostly found.
Pollution load index (1) indicating all the locations are MPs polluted.
Ecological risk was low to medium depending on abundance and toxicity.
AGREE metric score is 0.53 indicating moderate greenness of the method.
