Cluneal Nerve Injections - Possible Solution to Non-Specific Low Back Pain?
A retrospective study with data collected from a single private practice serving the community via 5 community sites in a greater metropolitan area.
288 patients were identified by utilizing Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes. Chart review was conducted yielding 13 patients who received 20 injections of the superior and middle cluneal nerves.
Following IRB exemption, data was gathered from the EMR. Statistical analysis was performed to include mean ± standard deviation. T-tests with p-values were utilized to evaluate statistically significant changes.
Steroid injections surrounding the Superior Cluneal and Middle Cluneal Nerves may be diagnostic and/or therapeutic in a subset of patients with a complicated history of low back pain.
