Poster Title: Polishing Protocols for Denture Base Resins: Clinical and Laboratory Implications for 3D Printed and Milled Prostheses
Authors: Alhelí Mejía Ferrel, University of Puerto Rico, Graduate Program in Prosthodontics
Abstract:
This poster reviews polishing protocols for denture base resins, integrating evidence from in vitro and clinical studies, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses. A comparative analysis was conducted to correlate laboratory findings with clinical implications. Conventional, milled, and 3D-printed prostheses were evaluated, considering different polishing techniques and finishing protocols. Results highlight the impact of polishing on surface roughness, gloss, and long-term performance, providing practical guidelines for clinical application in CAD/CAM prosthodontics.
