Title: Early Detection of Preclinical Alzheimer's Disease Through Functional Markers in Women: An Observational Study
Background: Alzheimer's disease develops gradually over many years before clinically detectable dementia appears. Identifying early functional markers may improve opportunities for prevention and timely intervention.
Objective: To investigate functional markers associated with the preclinical stage of Alzheimer's disease in women through an observational analysis of the scientific literature.
Methods: An observational literature analysis was conducted using published scientific studies, including longitudinal investigations such as the Nun Study, focusing on early functional and behavioral changes associated with Alzheimer's disease.
Results: The literature consistently identified subjective memory complaints, sleep disturbances, emotional burden, reduced attention, subtle language changes, social isolation, and difficulties in complex daily activities as potential early functional markers in women.
Conclusion: Functional changes may precede clinically detectable dementia by many years. Recognizing these early markers may contribute to earlier identification of women at increased risk for Alzheimer's disease and support future preventive strategies.
