Part of Topic
INTRODUCTION
Little is presently known about how modifiable dementia risk factors associate with brain pathologies in India, the world’s most populous country.
OBJECTIVE
Establish a structural MRI based neural exposome of India by associating all 14 Lancet Commission modifiable dementia risk factors with neurodegenerative markers of excess atrophy.
DISCUSSION
Obesity (in the unexpected direction), social isolation, PM2.5 air pollution and poverty may have early influences on neurodegeneration, especially hippocampal atrophy and decreased cortical thickness, among globally established modifiable risks in India.
