How do we identify the right people for Alzheimer's prevention trials before neurodegeneration begins?
ALZEVIT is building one of Europe's first nationwide, decentralized APOE ε4 precision-prevention cohorts, designed to accelerate early intervention and next-generation Alzheimer's disease prevention research.
Using rapid home-based APOE genotyping, digital recruitment, telemedicine, plasma biomarkers, neuroimaging, multi-omics, and environmental profiling, ALZEVIT will recruit 50,000 adults aged 45 years and older and establish a deeply phenotyped, trial-ready cohort of approximately 2,350 participants enriched for APOE ε4 carriers.
Beyond genetic screening, the project seeks to answer a fundamental question in Alzheimer's disease: Why do some APOE ε4 carriers remain cognitively resilient while others develop Alzheimer's disease decades earlier? By integrating multimodal biological, clinical, digital, and environmental data, ALZEVIT aims to identify the modifiers of disease onset and resilience that will drive future precision-prevention strategies.
ALZEVIT provides a scalable, real-world framework for precision medicine, equitable nationwide screening, earlier intervention, and faster recruitment into preventive and disease-modifying clinical trials.
