Part of Topic
In a populatiion-based cohort, we measured accelerometer-derived physical activity at baseline and levels of three blood-based biomarkers over time (glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), neurofilament light chain (NfL), phosphorylated tau (pTau217)).
Higher sedentary times were associated with higher average levels of GFAP.
Higher step counts and energy expenditure were associated with reduced age-related increases of NfL.
More time spent in moderate-to-vigorous physical activity was associated with lower average levels of pTau217 and slower age-related increases of pTau217.
