Patient and Public Involvement events offer valuable insights for healthcare teams, patients, and their carers and family and rightly play the patient at the helm of the developing research.  Attending this event reinforced the responsibility that research carries, that care for patients should be a partnership and a dialogue rather than a hierarchy.  It served as a reminder that behind the timelines, statistics and outcomes are hopeful anticipation and real patients, families and carers.
