Corner, Mirror, Interior
This work is a photograph of a physically constructed still-life, produced without digital compositing or manipulation. This image was made by assembling fragments of black and white photographs of a domestic interior into a collage laid flat on a tabletop. Two small mirrors were positioned perpendicular to the surface and each other, forming a corner that reflects an re-orients the photographic fragments.
The camera records the resulting configuration created by physical reflection and reconstruction; recognisable architectural details remain visible but conventional spatial continuity is disrupted. The image examines how familiar environments can become difficult to interpret when systems of orientation are altered, evoking conditions of impaired recognition through visual structures, objects and space
