Documentary filmmaker Michelle Memran accompanies Brother John-Richard Pagan, an advocate living with Lewy body dementia, as he walks to deliver his keynote address at the Mayo Clinic’s Conference on Brain Health and Dementia (2023). The bridge they cross is both literal and symbolic, a passage from patient to presenter, from MRI to microphone. This moment also marks the beginning of their long-term film collaboration and friendship, founded on trust, humor, mutual mentorship, and returning again and again to their shared mission: to transform how dementia is understood by listening to those living with it.
