Implementing Blood-Based Biomarkers for Alzheimer’s Disease in Routine Care: Attitudes, Expectations, and Concerns of General Practitioners in Germany
We investigated how general practicioners in Germany view the emergence of blood-based biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease, as general practicioners are mostly the first point of contact for patients with memory complaints. In short, most are quite open to these new developments - however, without clear consequences in case of positive test results and without proper treatment, blood-based biomarkers are primarily viewed as a potentially useful add-on to current diagnostic pathways.
