A Randomized, Double-Blind, Parallel-Group Study Comparing the Safety and Effcacy of Aminolevulinic Acid 10% Gel and Aminolevulinic Acid 20% Solution Followed by Blue Light Photodynamic Therapy for Treating Adult Actinic Keratoses on the Face or Scalp
This study compared the safety and effectiveness of aminolevulinic acid (ALA) 10% Effcacy
This study compared the safety and effectiveness of aminolevulinic acid (ALA) 10% Gel and ALA 20% Solution for treating actinic keratosis (AK) lesions on the face and scalp when used in conjunction with blue light photodynamic therapy. Two treatments of each product were administered 28 days apart using a split-face design. No signifcant differences between the two treatments were observed with regard to percent of treatment areas fully cleared, percent AK lesions cleared or VAS measurements. However 20% ALA solution was associated with significantly more subjects with elevated local skin reaction (LSR) scores for erythema and scaling/dryness at both 3 days following the first and second treatment visit.
