Rate

No votes yet

This poster reports findings from a cross-sectional analytical study evaluating factors associated with temporomandibular disorders (TMD) among university team-sport athletes. Using validated instruments to assess TMD presence, psychological distress, sleep habits and lifestyle behaviors, the study demonstrates a high prevalence of TMD in this population. Psychological factors such as anxiety and stress, along with sleep deprivation and smoking, were significantly associated with increased TMD prevalence, while mouthguard use showed a protective effect. These results emphasize the biopsychosocial nature of TMD and highlight the need for early screening and preventive strategies in athletic settings.
