Minimally Invasive Implant Placement in a Narrow Mandibular Anterior Ridge: A Case Report
Poster Presenter
Part of Topic
Introduction :
Rehabilitation of the mandibular anterior region can be challenging when ridge width is limited. The use of narrow-diameter implants in such cases allows a minimally invasive approach, avoiding grafting procedures while maintaining satisfactory functional and aesthetic outcomes.
This report describes the placement of two narrow implants with a conical connection in a thin mandibular anterior ridge without bone grafting.
Methods :
A 64-year-old patient presented with terminal root lesions in the mandibular anterior region. After clinical and radiographic evaluation, extraction of the affected teeth was performed.
Two narrow-diameter tissue level implants (2.5 × 9mm, conical connection) were immediately placed with good primary stability (insertion torque ≈ 35 Ncm) in the prosthetically driven position. Healing abutments were connected.
Results :
After one year, radiographic evaluation showed stable crestal bone levels.
The final fixed restoration achieved satisfactory esthetics and function.
Conclusion :
Minimally invasive implant placement using narrow-diameter implants is a predictable treatment option for managing narrow mandibular ridges.
This approach avoids additional surgical procedures, reduces patient discomfort and shortens overall treatment time.
