Title: The impact to monitor a Surveyor Development Program
Introduction: The National Accreditation Organization (ONA) worked alongside more than 1.234 health organizations to improve their processes through ONA’s Brazilian methodology of accreditation. It has as main purpose the training and development of Surveyors of the Brazilian Accreditation System. Since its foundation and development of its first manual, ONA involve the Surveyors, who are professionals with higher education in several areas. These professionals are responsible for evaluating whether the requirements established in ONA manuals are implemented by health organizations that participate in the Brazilian ONA Accreditation System.
Objective: Demonstrate the impact to monitor a Surveyor Development Program.
Methods: The Surveyor Development Program is established in the ONA Guiding Standard, where specific information is provided, thus allowing Surveyor to be aware of costs, time, competences, skills, access, results, rights, and responsibilities, as well as participation criteria, minimum score required, benefits and rules. For a health professional to be part of the group of Surveyors first there is the need to be approved in three steps, as follow: preparation course of Surveyors, proficiency examination and document analysis.
After approving the preparation and proficiency exam course, the candidate receives guidance to register in the Development Program Application, that he/she begins the trajectory to become a surveyor. After registration, the candidate enters all the documentation established in the previously mentioned standard for analysis. After the approval of the documentation, the candidate acquires 50 starting points and becomes Aspirant, thus being available so that the Accreditation Institutions Accredited by ONA can integrate the surveyors to their teams.
When this happens, the Aspirant moves to the Trainee phase, that he/she must perform at least three visits and start the insertion in his/her documentation of other certificates, whether they are events, courses, publications, etc., to increase the score. Acting as trainee and reaching 120 points, the same becomes a surveyor and it is expected to maintain the score and meet the qualifying points that refer to the visits and training sessions. From there, given the rules and achieving 180 points, he/she will become a Leading Surveyor. Achieving
As part of the development of Surveyor, ONA carries out a series of trainings in the format of webinars, events, courses, content, among others. To define the schedule according to the current need and context, ONA periodically analyses the satisfaction surveys of events and promotes courses exclusive to Surveyors.
Results: As results, currently ONA has 800 participants of the Program considering all qualifications, a very important result for the Brazilian Accreditation System, because the development of this group contributes to the continuous improvement of surveys. If we consider each qualification, we have the follow numbers: Leader Surveyor 70, Surveyor 236, Trainee 77, and others are Aspirants. A total of 100% of Aspirants, Trainees, Surveyor and Surveyor Leaders participate in the Program. The Program was evaluated by ISQua and received its certification in 2020 and maintained it in 2023.
