Introduction:
The high burden of tuberculosis infection in Indonesia and worldwide is getting worse in this pandemic. Persahabatan Hospital, as National Referral for Respiratory Cases, was obligate by the minister of health to conquer the iceberg phenomenon of an undermanaged tuberculosis patient.
Methods:
The national data of referral health centers for tuberculosis treatment were collected from the ministry of health. Three types of hospital service categories, primary, secondary, and tertiary hospitals, were listed as target hospitals for tuberculosis mentoring. The cross-sectional design will explain the future arrangement applied by practicing the rehabilitation module. The lately more significant burden of disability after tuberculosis treatment is increasing rapidly due to less coverage of therapy during the pandemic.
Results:
A module for medical rehabilitation mentoring in tuberculosis management was developed and joined and became part of the comprehensive module for multidiscipline specialties in tuberculosis experts. An integrated care medical rehabilitation team was established first to guide the team in sharing with other medical facilities under Persahabatan Hospital. The national tuberculosis data profile estimated 969,000 active tuberculosis cases, only 46% with tuberculosis treatment coverage. Less than 1% received rehabilitation programs in the earlier treatment phase.
Conclusion:
Recent updates on respiratory rehabilitation are seen as an effective approach in patients with potential chronic respiratory illness, i.e. tuberculosis, to prevent future pulmonary sequelae and respiratory dysfunction. A module to assist a remote respiratory rehabilitation mentoring program in tuberculosis management is needed to gain better outcomes and prevent future disability in respiratory health
