PATENT MEASUREMENT OF SAFETY : A TOOL TO IMPROVE SAFETY CULTURE FROM PATIENT PERSPECTIVE .

Objectives:

• To Study patients’ feedback about their experiences of care
• To Study patient-identified factors that contribute to their safety
•Use patients’ perspectives to describe opportunities for safety improvement
 

Methodology:

•Study participants: patients admitted at 3 units at CMC
•Tool: PMOS questionnaire with 33 questions categorized under 8 key domains
•Positive index was calculated for each of the 8 key domains
 

Results:

•6 out of 8 studied domains were correlated with patients’ perceptions of safety
•Patients identifies two additional domains related their safety
•The mean PMOS index score for the entire studied sample was 28.35 (±5.92). Therefore on average, patients responded positively to 28 out of 33 items.
