Effective Removal of Methylene Blue Using Calotropis Procera Leaf

Introduction

Methylene blue is a versatile chemical compound that holds significant importance in various fields due to its diverse range of applications. It is a heterocyclic aromatic compound with the chemical formula C16H18ClN3S.

Methylene blue can have both positive and negative effects.

However, studies have shown that certain microorganisms and environmental factors can facilitate its degradation.

Traditional adsorbents such as activated carbon and silica gel have been widely used for this purpose.

However, these materials have limitations in terms of their high cost, limited availability, and low adsorption capacity.

To overcome these limitations, the apple of Sodom (Calotropis procera) has emerged as a potential adsorbent for the removal of methylene blue from aqueous solutions.
