Background & Purpose

  • Weight regain after weight loss surgery (WLS) is a common, significant concern that is commonly related to behavioral and psychological factors

  • Most patients do not attend behavioral medicine (BMED) follow-up appointments, despite its association with weight loss maintenance

  • Less than 50% of patients referred to behavioral medicine from medical settings attend an initial appointment 1, 2

  • Innovative treatment models are needed to reduce barriers to BMED treatment

  • The current study aims to examine the feasibility and acceptability of an integrated behavioral medicine consult service within a bariatric surgery clinic.
