Audit: Diagnosis of the Aetiology of Acute pancreatitis

We are presenting this interesting audit conducted in Northern Devon District hospital about the diagnosis of the Aetiology of Acute pancreatitis. As per NICE guidance no more than 20 % should be classified as idiopathic ,for this to be diagnosed all relevant history, examination and investigations needs to be conducted . Retrospective collection of three month data of patients admitted showed a less than advised by NICE guidance diagnosis ration .Intervention in the form of teaching, presentation of audit data and development of a to do list for acute pancreatitis was done .National standards were met on re-audit .
